SHOW: Our Last Daze, Junkbunny, Blue collar Boi

It's pretty rare that there's a pop-punk/emo/hardcore show in Lockhart, and we can't wait to go back to our roots! Join us for a great show December 21st with @ourlastdaze, @junkbunny, and Blue Collar Boi! Sweep your bangs over and let's go!

Our Last Daze: Forged from the burgeoning music scene of Central Texas, Our Last Daze is a dynamic and ever evolving force to be reckoned with. Powerful instrumentation shifting from heavy to poppy to soulful, accompanied by catchy vocal melodies with emotive lyrical themes of the debauchery of youth and the existential dread that follows, Our Last Daze is reminiscent of the mid-2000’s Emo/Pop-Punk scene.

JunkBunny: Combining hardcore hooks with a reverence for early 2000s pop-punk, JunkBunny’s sound is anthemically massive while still retaining emotional resonance. Compromised of Mac Johnson (Guitar/Vocals), Isaac Moore (Drums), and Seth Reissig (Bass), the Austin-based trio is releasing their debut album Starting Over on May 3rd before hitting the road. Balancing gigs at gritty dive bars with amphitheaters alongside legendary acts like ZZ Top and Jon Bon Jovi, JunkBunny’s emergence has been as swift and visceral as the sounds they continue laboring over in an underground Austin Studio.

SHOW: LASSO + Jennifer Jane Nicely Trio

Join us for a night of beautiful music!

Saturday November 9th at 8pm • $10 cover [doors at 7pm]

On the heels of her stunning new album release, Not LostJennifer Jane Niceley and her mystical country quartet are traveling the back roads to the best haunts that remain. With her transcendent songs and enigmatic band, it can be hard for heady folks to “genrify” and classify the sound; for those who’d rather float away on the frequency, this music is a balm to the soul. Featuring Feathered Mason on baritone guitar, Jason Goforth on pedal steel and ambient harmonica, Clint Mullican on electric bass and Robert Crawford on Drums.

LASSO are a collective of trans-dimensional multi-instrumentalists based on planet Earth in the city of Austin, TX, testing the limits of both spacetime and genre with psychedelic gusto. Their 2022 eponymous debut orbits somewhere at the astronomical midpoint of German experimentalists Tangerine Dream and honky tonk legend Hank Williams. LASSO deliver a rocking twang drenched in psychedelic shimmer, launching your favorite dusty beer joint clean through the stratosphere on a venture to uncharted galaxies with Lone Star in hand.

LIVE MUSIC - RITA BLISS

RITA BLISS - Rita Bliss is a folk musician from Rochester, New York and is now based in Austin Texas. Though a Rust Belt native, Rita’s melodies are rooted in familiar old-time banjo sounds that evoke travels along the backroads of the South. Influenced by John Prine, Joni Mitchell, and Nanci Griffith, Rita’s songwriting weaves together timeless love stories with long drives, porch gatherings, and letters between loved ones. The love stories are unabashedly queer, the porch gatherings are sometimes rowdy, and the conversations often touch on true-to-life mental health challenges.

Rita is releasing two singles from her debut solo album, "Peaches and Apple Pies," in May and June of 2024. Produced by Grammy-nominated musician Dom Fisher, the album will feature "Drive You to Kentucky", "The Best Bar in Texas", and "Two Dollar Bill" with a release date of July, 2024. She'll be making stops in Dallas, St. Louis, Chicago, and Nashville this spring and can otherwise be found in and around Austin.

SHOW: Plum Creek Records Presents Garrett T. Capps and NASA Country, Heavy Meddo, Half Dream

It’s FIRST FRIDAY! You know what that means - according to tradition stated in the ancient lore, we have to throw an awesome show with Plum Creek Records!

This month we’re welcoming back one of our favorite bands of ALL TIME: Garrett T. Capps & NASA Country, along with Heavy Meddo and Half Dream!

GTC is a Bad mofo. He makes cowboy kraut with his band NASA Country & also lots of Tex-Mex rock n' roll. He is San Antonio’s resident cosmic country gonzo honky tonk weirdo freak. He is a national treasure in Holland. He can usually be found at The Lonesome Rose, the bar he owns in the city he was born in. foo.

Heavy Meddo enjoys long walks on the Faust tapes, some lingering fumes of a youthful infatuation with James Joyce, smattering of samples, loud guitar
(the ventures), postrock/postpunk/post-using-the-word-post, dusk nearby cubist castle, tape manipulation , collage in every sense

Half Dream is a rock n’ roll band based in Austin fronted by songwriter Paige Renée Berry (guitar, vocals), along with Laine Higgins (lead guitar), Wes Armstrong (drums) Mike Wade (bass), and Carrie Fussel (harmony vocals, texture). Formed in 2018, Half Dream began with the name and songs of Paige Renée Berry and changed their moniker to reflect the ethereal and collaborative nature of the sound. Paige Berry’s songwriting explores identity, overcoming trauma, & moving past fear. Floating melodies find punch in driving hooks that highlight vocal subtleties, landing somewhere between dream and tenuous reality. These songs were born from a love of storytelling, radical empathy, and unfiltered expression from artists like Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel, Helen Reddy, Liz Phair.

LIVE MUSIC - ALEX DUPREE + LONGRIVER

Alex Dupree: The Texas Doesn't Care Tour Kickoff$10 Adv / $12 DOS -

Doors at 7 / Show at 8

All Ages

Alex Dupree is a published poet and songwriter. He got his musical start in Austin, Texas before moving to California to study poetry at UC Irvine. During this time, songwriting was never far from his mind, and he continued to write and perform with multiple Los Angeles country bands. He has since returned to Texas, where he is again focused on his own music.

Despite a deep love for country music, Dupree’s songs never quite settle into that category, absorbing additional influences from the likes of Laurie Anderson, Arthur Russell, Bjork, and John Cale.

His 2022 album, Thieves, was produced by Michael Krassner (Califone, Simon Joyner, Boxhead Ensemble) and features Max Knouse, Aaron Stern, Stephen Hodges (Tom Waits, Mavis Staples), Buck Meek (Big Thief), as well as longtime collaborators Aisha Burns and Matt Matherne.

This fall, Dupree is undertaking an extensive tour of Texas in anticipation of the release of his album You Winsome, You Lonesome. A “Texas Edition” of the vinyl will be available on September 6th—exclusively via Bandcamp and in-person at shows—with a worldwide release set for November 8th.

This tour takes its name from the first single off of You Winsome, You Lonesome: “Texas Doesn’t Care.” Of the song, Dupree says, “I wrote it for my sister, but I ended up living the story myself. It's a song about coming home and the perverse comfort of knowing that, no matter what has happened, Texas will always welcome you back. Because Texas doesn’t care.”

You Winsome, You Lonesome is available for pre-order at TexasDoesntCare.com

After circulating tapes during a few years of international touring and cultivating his following in Austin, David Longoria has recorded his debut studio album as Longriver: Of Seasons, a folk-animated meditation on time, death, and whispers of transcendence. Before Longriver, Longoria played with acts diverse as . . . And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and Bill Baird, as well as producing records such as The Blue Dirt of Paradise. But his main operation was fronting his own multi-piece rock set, The Black, whose record Sun in the Day Moon at Night got “pretty damn close to the mythical ‘cosmic American music’ that GP was trying to pin down,” according to My Old Kentucky Blog. This record was indeed a production from the vibrant center of life and activity, and it earned Longoria a national audience. The work of Longriver, however, is quieter and operates in more intimate spaces and moments. Such work could be called a breather when it comes to speed, a temporary release from our culture of acceleration. Longriver’s poetic approach to music invites listeners to let their suffering be witnessed and touched.

Of Seasons is led by Longriver’s lyrical, Fahey-styled guitar picking, accompanied by upright bass and ambient organ, piano and cello. The first track places us on a boat and sets off on the odyssey of the record. “When the ark was building Noah, and I was sitting nowhere” is the refrain of the song, and Of Seasons is full of such mythic, existential lines that make you grateful the album includes liner notes. The next song, “Wasting Time,” is direct and demanding: “I open the book of wasting time, I point and click on wasting time, wherever I look I’m wasting time,” sung with a power that encourages listeners to see our insecurities honestly and collectively. If the lyrics touch anxieties and fears, the rhythmic strength of Longriver’s fingerstyle playing–informed by Skip James, Charlie Patton, and Townes Van Zandt–keep the record moving, deftly afloat. Longriver channels the more mystical resonances of pre-war blues in “The Way That It Is,” a song that deals with illness, aging, and delusion in a surprisingly supportive tone. This song, and less directly the album as a whole, addresses inevitability of pain, and how ineptly our culture deals with that pain, whether through religion, the cult of work, material wealth, or romantic love. “Kuku Ree,” the closing track, offers no definitive answers: “You do the best with what you know, and slowly you go to the truth,” through the dream-like nature of everyday life and death.

Of Seasons releases September 6th, 2019 from Hullabaloo records. It was recorded at King Electric Recording Co. in Austin, Texas, produced by Michael Pierce and mastered by JJ Golden at Golden Mastering. Musicians on the album include: Thor Harris (Swans, Bill Callahan, Shearwater), Sarah La Puerta (Tele Novella, Thor and Friends), Lindsey Verrill (Little Mazarn), Evan Joyce (Warm Sugar), Colin Gilmore, and Alan Schaefer.

LIVE MUSIC - HOUSTON IN THE BLIND

Formed in 2014, Houston in the Blind instantly injected themselves into the Atlanta music scene. Their debut album, Limbs, was released in 2015 and quickly became an indie hit. It was featured on numerous Year-end Best of lists and saw the band tour around the country. This looked like the break band leader Charlie Garrett had been patiently waiting for. Wanting a change of scenery from his hometown of Athens, Georgia, Garrett and his wife decided to head west to Los Angeles. With all the positive momentum, Garrett thought it would be an easy sell to his bandmates, but that was not how things panned out. With Hide the Glow, Charlie reflects on how he got to the place he is now and the challenges he faced along the way.

Show starts at 8pm.
